Ines Salazar

Born in Caracas, Venezuela, Ines Salazar received her diploma from Italy's Castelfranco Veneto Conservatory with the highest marks. She received the prize for the best voice in the 1990 Maria Callas Competition and top prizes at the Voci Verdiane, the Toti dal Monte, the Giacomoantonio, and the Mario del Monaco competitions. 
 
During the first ten years of her career, she performed in some of the most important theatres in the world, including La Scala, Teatro di Roma, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Teatro Real de Madrid, Vienna Staatsoper, Baltimore Theatre, among others, in collaboration with such renowned singers as Luciano Pavarotti and Juan Pons, and with directors and conductors Franco Zeffirelli, Placido Domingo and Riccardo Muti. Most of her performances have been in France and in Germany, where she performed as Lady Macbeth and Leonora. She has performed Beethoven's Missa Solemnis with Sir Colin Davis in Amsterdam's Concertgebouw and Verdi's Requiem in Milan with Riccardo Chailly. In the past few years she became a favourite of the Vienna Staatsoper, where she has performed in Tosca, Il Trovatore, Aida, Un Ballo in Maschera, Ernani and Verdi's Requiem. She also performed Un Ballo in Maschera at Washington D.C.'s Kennedy Center, directed by Placido Domingo.
