Frances Fenton

FRANCES FENTON has sung leading and featured roles with the Zürich Opera, Frankfurt Opera, Opera Mobile, Houston Grand Opera, Central City Opera and the San Antonio Festival. She has sung as a guest artist with opera companies and orchestras in 20 countries and has also been televised on four continents.  

Frances has sung world premieres of works by Richard Hundley, Henry Mollicone, John David Earnest, Donald Joyce, Allyson Wells, and European and Asian premieres of works by Philip Glass and John Corigliano.   Composers Roger Keele, Joseph LoCascio, Mehmet Okonsar and Aubrey Tucker have written especially for her and dedicated works to her.

As a Cultural Ambassador, she has frequently performed for the U.S. State Department and is, to date, the only American opera singer  invited as a Master Class technician at the Ashdod Opera in Israel.  Most recently, she performed in Germany under the auspices of both the U.S. and Turkish State Departments and the Münchener Tonkünstlerverband. Miss Fenton also gives benefit performances sponsored by UNICEF. 

Frances teaches at Houston Community College and maintains an active private studio.  Her students include competition winners, major scholarship winners (over $750,000 thus far) and recording artists.   She is a guest adjudicator for NATS competitions, and The Professional Opera Singers’ Association Competition (in Southern California).

Miss Fenton performed in the 100th Artist Concert of the Houston Tuesday Musical Club (1911-2012) and will be a featured performer in November at the Texoma Regional NATS Conference.
